About Volunteer Centre Glossop
Volunteer Centre Glossop is a charitable organisation. It was established to enhance the quality of life for the people of Glossop and the High Peak by promoting the value of volunteering and ensuring that volunteer opportunities are available for all. It is committed to providing ongoing support for volunteers and the organisations they work with.
The Centre also works to identify the unmet social and/or economic needs of the community and to establish projects to meet those needs with a commitment to those projects becoming independent.
Volunteer Centre Glossop, like all nationally accredited volunteer centres, places the needs, rights and issues of volunteers at the heart of our activities. Our commitment to ensure volunteering opportunities are available to all translates into the following activities:
-
Raising awareness of the benefits of volunteering for both the community and the individual
-
Advertising the diversity of volunteering opportunities available
-
Helping potential volunteers identify those projects that are of most interest to them
-
Helping projects devise good volunteering policies and practices
-
Providing training and support to volunteer involving organisations on recruiting, supporting and developing volunteers
-
Campaigning on policy issues that affect volunteering
-
Working with local authorities and national bodies to develop a vibrant and creative volunteering community
-
Acting as an advocate for volunteers or organisations experiencing difficulties
